LIKE a few million other Malaysians, I too, frequently use the North-South PLUS (Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan) highway. Twice a month, on average. And along with those few million other Malaysians, I too, gripe at ever increasing tolls and ponder the billion ringgit question: when the heck can we stop paying tolls?
The authorities here aren’t transparent enough about the finances to provide any sort of an answer to that question. So I decided to see what the money PLUS earns was being spent on (apart from maintaining the highways, of course).
