When fishing deep and not hooking a fish, an electric reel will save you the time and energy in reeling in to bait up again. However, to me the beauty of fishing is in feeling the fish and fighting it.
Some electric reels when fishing at depths of 100m-200m will struggle to raise a 20kg fish, so that the angler often has to revert to manual mode. Electric reels are also not suitable for fishing large pelagics that may rip out 200m-300m of line in a single run because their fuzzy logic cannot cope with the stresses.
