OPPOSITES attract, which is why the Surf and Turf never goes out of style.
In Penang, a great place to savour a plate of this time-honoured classic is the scenic Pinang Restaurant and Bar in Shangri-La Rasa Sayang hotel.
Known as the Steak and Lobster here, it is a luxurious pairing of succulent Australian sirloin with a mouth-watering half lobster grilled with garlic-herb butter.
Charred asparagus and mashed potato complete the dish, which is priced at RM158.
Diners can top up RM25 per person for a glass of red or white wine.
“Meat and seafood have always gone well together. More so in a setting like ours, where you are surrounded by greenery and are just a few metres from the water’s edge.
“What better place to savour good produce from land and sea, than right at the point where they meet,” the resort’s assistant food and beverage director Aries Boo said.
While the dish is available all day long, dinner is perhaps the best time to enjoy it as there could be a stunning sunset to accompany your meal, weather permitting.
This month, the outlet is serving Penang’s all-time favourite desserts with a boozy spin and the moniker, Cendol Cocktail.
Made with coconut cream, green rice flour jelly and gula Melaka, and spiked with vodka and Galliano liqueur, the Cendol Cocktail is priced at RM32 per glass. Its non-alcoholic alternative is also available at RM20.
“Cocktail aficionados are on the lookout for drinks with a local twist nowadays. So it was an opportunity for us to celebrate something unique to Penang.
“It’s a good sampler for foreign guests who’ve never had cendol before. We believe locals who love the original will also find this version exciting,” Boo said, while issuing a teaser that the Ulam Raja Mojito will debut in July and August.
The bar also has Sunset Hour specials from 5pm to 7pm daily with great deals on selected beverages.
