When it comes to watering holes, old can be gold

Two men walk into a bar and they see a snake... That would have made a great opening line for a joke, but at Waikiki Bar in Petaling Jaya, a snake used to slither around at the entrance and it was part of the pub’s charm.

Having a snake was one of the attractions of Waikiki PJ, but then most pubs and bars in the Klang Valley in the 1980s and 1990s, had their own method of attracting customers. These characteristics have enabled these pubs and bars to stand the test of time.
