JOHOR BAHRU: Dialog Group Bhd
plans an additional investment of RM3 billion between 2027 and 2030 to support the continued development of the Pengerang Deepwater Terminals (PDT).
The group said the planned investment would be guided by customer demand, commercial viability and strategic alignment with the broader Pengerang ecosystem, as it continues to strengthen the terminal's position as a leading regional energy storage and logistics hub.
"Dialog is actively engaging potential customers and industry players to unlock the next phase of growth for the strategic energy and industrial hub," it told Bernama, adding that updates would be provided once agreements were formalised and the necessary approvals secured.
The integrated specialist technical services providers to the oil, gas and petrochemical industry said total investments in PDT to date have exceeded RM14 billion, reflecting sustained commitments from shareholders and customers, while approximately 267 hectares of land remain available for future development.
It said the ongoing Phase 3 expansion, undertaken under a long-term service agreement with BP Singapore Pte Limited, remains on track for completion by mid-2028 and will add approximately 614,000 cubic metres of storage capacity for refined petroleum products and biofuels.
Upon completion of the Phase 3 expansion and additional storage facilities being developed by Pengerang Terminals (Two) Sdn Bhd (PT2SB) to support the Pengerang Biorefinery project, PDT's total operating storage capacity is expected to increase from approximately four million cubic metres currently to around five million cubic metres by 2028.
On operational performance, Dialog said PDT handled more than 2,000 vessel calls and recorded approximately 45 million tonnes of throughput in both financial years 2025 and 2026, while terminal utilisation consistently remained above 90 per cent, reflecting sustained customer demand.
The group is also expanding its capabilities in lower-carbon energy infrastructure, with PT2SB developing an additional 272,000 cubic metres of dedicated storage capacity to support the Pengerang Biorefinery, which will produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel, with completion scheduled for the first half of 2028.
Dialog also said it was actively engaging potential customers and industry players to unlock further growth opportunities at PDT, particularly in conventional energy, petrochemicals, logistics and emerging lower-carbon industries.
It highlighted that the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) could further strengthen cross-border trade, investment and supply-chain integration, creating opportunities to attract additional investments into Pengerang and reinforce its position as a strategic regional energy and industrial hub.- Bernama
