KULAI: Mah Sing Group Bhd
is banking on Kulai district’s growth potential to further strengthen its presence in Johor since entering the state 26 years ago.
Its founder and group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum said the district offered good business opportunities and growth prospects for the company.
“Kulai’s growth is fuelled by the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), Singapore’s proximity, better infrastructure and high-value industries,” he said.
Leong said this at the opening of the MS Industrial Park@Kulai sales gallery at Pusat Komersial Indah, Bandar Indahpura near here on Oct 23.
Present at the event were Mah Sing group chief executive officer and executive director Datuk Voon Tin Yow, Mah Sing Southern Region chief operating officer Loo Teck Jee, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd
(KLK) chief financial officer William Ong, and KLK Land Sdn Bhd assistant general manager (Planning) Raymond Kok.
The RM2.26bil project on a 419.17-acre site is a joint-venture development between Mah Sing, holding 60% equity, and KLK’s wholly-owned subsidiary KLK Land with a 40% stake.
“Our experience in developing five industrial parks in the Greater Klang Valley and Johor gives us a solid foundation as we embark on the latest project here,” said Leong.
He said as the company’s sixth industrial project, the new Kulai development aims to boost Johor’s industrial growth and create long-term value for both companies’ stakeholders.
Voon said the launch of the project comes at a significant moment as Kulai is rapidly emerging as an industrial and logistics hub in the southern region.
“We have witnessed that Kulai has growing investments in manufacturing, data centres and technology-related industries,’’ he said.
Voon said initiatives like the JS-SEZ helped businesses start and expand in Johor.
He said these efforts continued to strengthen investors’ confidence and provide opportunities for businesses to establish and expand their footprint in the state.
“The project to be delivered in five planned phases is designed to directly align with and support this vision,’’ said Voon, adding that MS Industrial Park@Kulai Phase 1A had achieved a 90% take-up rate as of now.
Loo said the project is designed to support manufacturers, logistics operators, technology companies, digital infrastructure providers and other businesses seeking scalable industrial solutions.
“Our aim is to create an integrated environment where businesses can grow, connect and become part of a wider industrial ecosystem,’’ he said.
Loo said Kulai is fast emerging as Johor’s key industrial growth corridor and both companies want to capture the opportunities.
