SHAH ALAM: S P Setia Bhd and Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at selected Setia developments.
Under the MoU, the parties will discuss opportunities relating to the identification, feasibility assessment, installation, operation and maintenance of EV charging facilities at identified Setia sites.
They will also explore other potential collaborations involving clean energy and green mobility solutions across Setia's developments.
Setia president and chief executive officer Datuk Zaini Yusoff said improving access to EV charging infrastructure within its townships would support the growing adoption of electric vehicles.
“Making EV charging more accessible within our townships is a practical step towards accelerating the shift to greener mobility, helping reduce reliance on petrol, lower vehicle emissions and support Malaysia’s transition towards a lower-carbon future,” he said in a statement.
Zaini said EV charging facilities could also improve convenience and amenities for residents at Setia's existing developments.
Gentari chief green mobility officer Fadzrul Ahmad said the companies would explore how charging infrastructure could be integrated across Setia's townships and developments.
“Through our collaboration with Setia, we are exploring how charging infrastructure can be integrated into thriving communities across Setia's townships and developments, making EV adoption more practical and convenient for residents and visitors while supporting Malaysia's transition towards a lower-carbon future,” he said.
Gentari Green Mobility is a subsidiary of Gentari, the clean energy company wholly owned by Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS).
Gentari operates across renewable energy, hydrogen and green mobility.
