KUALA LUMPUR: Maybank and Gallant Venture are expanding their collaboration to develop the Bintan Inti Halal Hub (BIHH) in Indonesia, with the project moving into a 100-hectare development phase.

The expansion follows the completion of a five-hectare pilot zone at the Bintan Industrial Estate.

In a statement, Maybank said it will provide a comprehensive suite of Islamic banking and financial services to businesses operating within BIHH, including trade and working capital financing, foreign exchange and cash management solutions.

Businesses will also have access to halal certification support, business matching and Maybank’s regional network.

The initiative is aimed at supporting companies expanding across Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia, as well as attracting international manufacturers and investors to Bintan.

Maybank Islamic Bhd group chief executive officer Yasin Abdullah said the collaboration would help businesses access financing and regional markets as they expand their halal operations.

“Through strategic collaborations such as this, Maybank is strengthening the ecosystem required to help businesses connect, grow and participate in regional halal trade flows.

“This initiative also supports our ROAR30 aspirations — powering the real economy, opening up RM100bil in opportunities for SMEs, and building the foundations for Maybank’s global Islamic leadership.

“By bringing together financing, market access, industry partnerships and halal ecosystem capabilities, we aim to support businesses throughout their expansion journey and contribute meaningfully to Asean’s halal economy,” he said.

Gallant Venture chief executive officer Eugene Park said the group aims to position BIHH as a manufacturing and export base, leveraging Bintan’s industrial infrastructure and proximity to Singapore.

“Central to this is the Singapore-Bintan twinning model, which combines Singapore’s strengths in finance, logistics and international market access with Bintan’s cost-competitive, plug-and-play manufacturing infrastructure and space for growth.

“Our partnership with Maybank will strengthen this proposition by connecting manufacturers and investors with financing solutions and regional business networks to support business establishment, operational needs and expansion,” he said.
