PETALING JAYA: Pekat Group Bhd
has bagged three subcontracts worth a combined RM57.18mil for earthing and lightning protection systems works for a hyperscale data centre project in Johor Baru.
The name of the client, however, was not disclosed due to the confidentiality obligation.
The client is incorporated in Malaysia and is mainly involved in engineering, construction services and investment holding.
Elaborating further, Pekat told Bursa Malaysia that the three subcontracts were awarded to its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Pekat E & LP Sdn Bhd.
The first subcontract, valued at RM27.21mil, involves the supply, delivery, install and carry out the testing and commissioning of earthing and lightning protection systems.
The second subcontract, valued at RM4.64mil, involves the supply and installation of earthing and lightning protection systems for a substation.
The third subcontract, valued at RM25.33mil, covers the design, supply, installation and testing of earthing and lightning protection services, including the installation of earth mats, lightning protection systems, associated cabling, copper tapes, joints, terminations, fixings and accessories, as well as related civil works associated with the earthing and lightning protection systems installation.
In a separate statement, Pekat said the first subcontract is targeted for completion by September 2027.
Meanwhile, the second and third subcontracts are targeted for completion by February 2027, subject to any extension of time or variation granted in accordance with the terms of the respective subcontracts.
Pekat chief executive officer Tai Yee Chee said the latest contract wins further strengthen the group’s position in the earthing and lightning protection segment.
“These three subcontracts, with a combined value of RM57.18mil, represent another meaningful addition to our project pipeline and reinforce our capabilities in delivering specialised earthing and lightning protection solutions.
“This is a good opportunity for us to demonstrate our technical capabilities and execution strength on a larger-scale package.
“We will continue to maintain a disciplined approach to project execution while pursuing opportunities that complement our core capabilities and support the group’s long-term growth,” according to Tay.
