Jasa Kita shareholders approve diversification into power infrastructure

Jasa Kita Bhd group managing director Datuk Seri Iskandar Mizal Mahmood.

KUALA LUMPUR: Jasa Kita Bhd shareholders have approved the group's diversification into power infrastructure services following its acquisition of electrical engineering specialist KT System Sdn Bhd.

“The diversification forms part of a strategy developed following the group’s change in leadership in late 2025 to build sustainable new earnings platforms alongside its established industrial distribution businesses,” Jasa Kita said in a statement.

KT System has more than 35 years of experience in high-voltage testing, commissioning and protection systems for transmission, distribution, power generation and solar projects.

The company is licensed by the Energy Commission to conduct testing and commissioning work on systems of up to 500 kilovolts (kV), the highest voltage level used by Malaysia's National Grid.

It is also a CIDB-registered G7 contractor and a registered service provider and contractor with Tenaga Nasional Bhd.

“With KT System, Jasa Kita is entering this sector from a position of technical credibility,” group managing director Datuk Seri Iskandar Mizal Mahmood said.

“It gives us an established platform from which to provide services and solutions across the power infrastructure value chain while building a sustainable new earnings stream for the group.”

The group plans to pursue opportunities in conventional and renewable power generation, transmission and distribution, battery energy storage systems, data centres and smart-grid applications.

Jasa Kita said peak electricity demand in Peninsular Malaysia is projected to increase by about 57% to 33.5 gigawatts (GW) by 2035 from 21.3GW in 2026.

It estimates Malaysia's broader annual power infrastructure market at RM40bil to RM50bil, with testing, protection and specialist engineering representing an estimated RM600mil to RM2bil annually.

The group's immediate focus will be on expanding KT System's testing, commissioning and protection capabilities and increasing recurring inspection and maintenance work.

It will also selectively pursue opportunities in battery energy storage systems, data centres, renewable energy projects and selected Asean markets.

Separately, shareholders approved Jasa Kita's proposed acquisition of a 55% stake in SPPH Eco Biomass Resources Sdn Bhd, which would give it an interest in a 110.087-acre land parcel near Kuantan Port with an indicated market value of RM50mil.
