KUALA LUMPUR: Pharmaniaga Bhd
recorded an earnings jump to RM12.49mil in the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, from RM3.96mil in the year-ago quarter on the back of improved revenue from the higher volume orders from government hospitals under the Approved Products Purchase List and increased sales from the private healthcare segment.
The pharmaceutical group reported quarterly revenue of RM1.04bil, up 12.3% year-on-year from RM926.86mil in 2QFY25.
Over the six-month period, the group said net profit rose to RM43.96mil from RM33.54mil in the same period in 2025, while revenue climbed to RM2.22bil from RM1.98bil over the comparative period.
According to the group's statement, it realised interest savings of RM7mil following the partial repayment of borrowings, supported by effective inventory management.
For 1HFY26, the manufacturing division remained a key earnings contributor, with earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation increasing to RM55.6mil, compared with RM50.3mil in previous corresponding period. It said the improvement was supported by stronger demand for the group’s in-house manufactured products.
Pharmaniaga managing director Datuk Zulkifli Jaafar said the group remains encouraged by the steady progress of our pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical initiatives, particularly the localisation of strategic healthcare products that will strengthen Malaysia's supply security while supporting long-term margin enhancement.
“As we move into the second half of the year, we remain committed to strengthening operational excellence, enhancing our product portfolio and delivering quality healthcare products and solutions that meet the evolving needs of the nation.
"We will continue working closely with Ministry of Health Malaysia and our healthcare partners to ensure the resilience, efficiency and reliability of the national healthcare supply chain while creating sustainable value for our shareholders,” he added.
The board of directors declared a second interim dividend of 0.48 sen per share with entitlement date on Sept 15, 2026, and payment date on Oct 13, 2026.
