KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd's (SCIB) wholly owned subsidiary, SCIB Industrialised Building System Sdn Bhd (SIBS), has secured an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) sub-contract worth about RM11.9mil for upgrading works at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

In a statement, the EPCC specialist said the contract involves upgrading the air-conditioning system at the Faculty of Engineering building under Phase 1, Package 8 of the UMS development programme.

SIBS was appointed by Demi Cerah Construction Sdn Bhd, with works scheduled to begin on Aug 1, 2026, and be completed by July 3, 2027.

Non-independent non-executive chairman Datuk Chong Loong Men said the contract strengthens SCIB's construction and EPCC portfolio while expanding its presence in Sabah.

"This contract represents another meaningful addition to SCIB's Construction and EPCC portfolio and further strengthens our presence in Sabah, highlighting the group's continued growth in the region,” he said.

The contract is expected to contribute positively to SCIB's earnings over its duration, with revenue and profit recognised progressively based on the progress of works.
