KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd
(TNB) and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd have inked an electricity supply agreement (ESA) and a cooling energy supply agreement (CESA), which aims to advance integrated utility solutions that enhance the efficiency of critical public infrastructure.
Under the ESA, TNB will supply high-voltage electricity to the Sungai Rasau Water Treatment Plant in Kuala Langat, Selangor. The plant is touted to be the largest water treatment plant in Southeast Asia with a treatment capacity of 1,400 million litres per day.
Expected to be fully completed in 2031, the plant will supply clean and safe treated water to 9.62 million consumers across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
Complementing this, the CESA will see TNB's wholly-owned subsidiary TNB Engineering Corporation Sdn Bhd (TNEC) provide Gas District Cooling services to Air Selangor’s facility in Jalan Pantai Baharu, Kuala Lumpur under a 20-year concession agreement.
By leveraging TNEC’s cooling services, the facility is expected to benefit from improved system reliability, enhanced energy performance and greater operational efficiency compared to a conventional standalone cooling system.

Meanwhile, Air Selangor CEO Adam Saffian Ghazali said the partnership represented another important milestone for Air Selangor’s efforts to ensure the continuous supply of clean and safe treated water to its 9.62 million consumers in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya.
