SHH to acquire 51% stake in gold mining firm for RM4mil

PETALING JAYA: SHH Resources Holdings Bhd is proposing to acquire a 51% stake in Stellar Jewel Mining Sdn Bhd from Sa Yijiao for RM4mil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the wood-based furniture manufacturer said the principal activities of Stellar Jewel are mining of gold, non-ferrous metal ores and export and import of non-ferrous metal ores.

“The proposed acquisition is in line with SHH Group's long-term strategy to diversify its business portfolio and establish new sources of recurring income.

“Upon completion of the proposed acquisition, Stellar Jewel will become an indirect subsidiary of SHH, enabling the group to participate in the upstream gold mining industry through its existing contractual mining rights.”

SHH said the acquisition is also expected to strengthen the group's earnings base by reducing its reliance on its existing core business and broadening its exposure to another economic sector with different market dynamics.

It added that the actual financial contribution from the proposed acquisition will depend on various factors, including the successful commencement and continuity of mining operations, the recoverable gold reserves, production efficiency, operating costs, prevailing and future gold prices, regulatory compliance, and the continued validity and renewal of the mining concession.
