Tanco inks deal for Port Dickson project

PETALING JAYA: Tanco Holdings Bhd, through its indirect wholly owned subsidiary Tanco Supplies Sdn Bhd, has entered into a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Halaman Mantap Sdn Bhd for the supply of armour rocks to support the proposed development of its Smart AI Container Port in Port Dickson.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the firm said Halaman Mantap agrees and commits to supplying up to four million tonnes of armour rocks for the reclamation works of the project by Midports Holdings Sdn Bhd, a 79% direct subsidiary of Tanco.

“The agreement is subject to the negotiation and confirmation between the parties, Tanco Supplies and Halaman Mantap, on specifications, quantities, pricing, timelines, payment terms and other salient terms within a period of four months from the MoA’s date of July 14, 2026, or an extended term if required, based on engineering input received regarding the reclamation works,” it said.

Upon reaching the agreement, the corresponding contracts will be executed by the parties, subject always to the recurrent related party transactions and approval protocols of Tanco Supplies.

“Furthermore, the payment period for the armour rocks supply shall be over a period of and/or shall not exceed four years from the date of the armour rocks contracts.”

Tanco Supplies is foremost expected to secure the relevant contracts from Midports Holdings or its designated main contractor to supply the armour rocks, whereas Halaman Mantap will be responsible for allocating and maintaining sufficient reserves to meet the supply terms under the armour rocks contracts.

“The MoA is not expected to have any effects on the share capital, substantial shareholders’ shareholdings, net asset per share, gearing and earning per shares of the company,” Tanco said.

The proposed Smart AI Container Port in Negri Sembilan will be supported by a 480-acre Tanco-owned landbank featuring a natural deep water access with more than 21 metre of depth that is 1.8 kilometre from the shoreline, allowing it to accommodate large global container ships, according to the company’s website.
