AirAsia Group completes name change from AirAsia X

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Group Bhd has completed its name change from AirAsia X Bhd to AirAsia Group Bhd, effective July 2.

In a statement, the company said the name change follows shareholders' approval at its annual general meeting on June 25 and the registration of the new name by the Companies Commission of Malaysia.

The company said the new name reflects its transition into a more integrated airline group as it pursues its ambition of becoming the world's first low-cost network carrier.

It said the consolidation would enable the group to optimise its network, strengthen operations and improve connectivity while continuing to offer affordable air travel across Asia and beyond.

Independent non-executive chairman Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim said the name change marks a key milestone in the group's growth strategy and positions it to leverage a larger fleet, broader route network and stronger connectivity to capture future growth opportunities.

“As global travel continues to shift towards Asia and Asean, we are entering this next chapter from a position of strength. Guided by AirAsia's entrepreneurial spirit and supported by strong corporate governance, disciplined execution and the unwavering commitment of our Allstars, we are confident in our ability to continue making air travel more accessible, drive sustainable long-term growth and build a world-class airline group for the future."
