Alliance Bank unveils Season 8 of financial literacy plan

The bank said the programme reflects a shared commitment between the public and private sectors to equip the next generation with the knowledge, values and practical skills needed for the future.

PETALING JAYA: Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd has launched AEIOU Seeds for Life – Season 8, themed “Responsible living: Smart money choices, greener planet”, ushering in a new chapter for one of Malaysia’s longest-running student financial literacy programmes.

“The programme: Seeds for Life reflects Alliance Bank’s purpose of being ‘The bank for life’, supporting individuals and communities at every stage of life through meaningful, future-focused initiatives,” said the bank in a statement.

First introduced 11 years ago, Alliance Bank said the national-level programme has gone beyond teaching financial concepts by encouraging students to apply their knowledge in real-world situations.

“It emphasises how everyday financial decisions, such as saving, spending and planning, are closely connected to environmental responsibility and sustainable living.

“This year marks a significant milestone, as the programme for the first time will extend beyond primary schools to secondary schools, and reach into the East Coast, alongside selected international and private schools, broadening its impact across more student communities nationwide.”

Supported by the Education Ministry, the programme reflects a shared commitment between the public and private sectors to equip the next generation with the knowledge, values and practical skills needed for the future, said the bank.

“To further strengthen the programme’s environmental dimension, Alliance Bank is partnering with the environmental non-governmental organisation Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Malaysia as the subject-matter expert for biodiversity- related curriculum content and workshops, adding depth and credibility to the learning experience.”

Since its inception in 2015, the AEIOU programme has benefited more than 148,000 students nationwide through roadshows and learning engagements.
