MICCI warns of delayed impact from West Asia conflict

MICCI president Christina Tee

PETALING JAYA: Businesses may only feel the second wave of impact from the West Asia conflict months from now, or even next year, cautions the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI).

MICCI president Christina Tee said businesses are already being hit by higher logistics costs, rising fuel and energy prices, and greater uncertainty across global markets.

Speaking at a luncheon after MICCI’s AGM recently, Tee said businesses have learned that uncertainty is no longer the exception. “It has become the operating environment. Resilience is no longer a competitive advantage; it is a necessity.”

However, she said Malaysia remains well-positioned to benefit from evolving global supply chains, regional economic integration, and growing investor interest in Asean.
