UMS proposes US$3.6mil investment to expand Vietnam manufacturing footprint

PETALING JAYA: UMS Integration Ltd has inked a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Tran Thanh Van and Nguyen Trong Dang, the founding shareholders of three Vietnamese precision engineering and metal processing firms.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, UMS noted the proposed deal involves restructuring the three businesses into a new entity (NewCo) with UMS investing about US$3.6mil to acquire roughly 51.6% equity in NewCo, thus making it a subsidiary of the group.

The transaction aims to expand UMS’s manufacturing footprint in Southeast Asia, strengthen its presence in Vietnam, and enhance capabilities in semiconductor and precision engineering.

The three companies are Viet Nguyen Mechanical Precision Co Ltd, Central Metal Mechanical Co Ltd and Global Metal Plating Co Ltd.

Final shareholding and valuation will depend on due diligence and definitive agreements.

UMS added that the investment will be funded internally and is not expected to materially impact its net tangible assets or earnings per share for FY2026.
