Malakoff, TNB REMACO team up to enhance MRO services for Malaysian power plants

KUALA LUMPUR: Malakoff Corp Bhd's wholly owned subsidiary, Malakoff Technical Solutions Sdn Bhd (MTSSB), has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TNB Repair and Maintenance Sdn Bhd (TNB REMACO).

TNB REMACO is a subsidiary of TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd under Tenaga Nasional Bhd.

The collaboration will explore maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for power plants, alongside training and competency development initiatives.

In a statement, Malakoff said the collaboration will also focus on identifying potential third-party MRO opportunities, allowing both organisations to leverage their combined technical expertise and networks beyond existing operations.

Malakoff group chief executive officer Syahrunizam Samsudin said: "Reliable power plants are the result of disciplined maintenance, skilled people and continuous improvement."

“This MoU with TNB REMACO is a natural extension of that commitment. Both organisations bring decades of operational experience in the Malaysian power sector and by formalising this collaboration, we are creating a platform to share knowledge, build capability and raise the bar on how power plants are maintained and operated in this country,” he said.

He also highlighted the commercial potential of the partnership, stating that MTSSB and TNB REMACO are well-placed to pursue third-party MRO opportunities together, expanding growth beyond their existing asset bases.

“For Malakoff, this partnership directly supports our strategy of optimising the performance of our existing thermal fleet while developing the next generation of skilled engineers and technical professionals,” he said, adding that strengthening reliability and workforce capability remains central as electricity demand rises and energy security becomes increasingly critical.

Moving forward, Malakoff said it remains focused on strengthening operational performance across its energy and environmental solutions businesses, underpinned by its long-term commitment to reliable energy supply and sustainable services.
