Northern Solar unit bags RM47.5mil subcontract

KUALA LUMPUR: Northern Solar Holdings Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Northern Solar Sdn Bhd (NSSB), has entered into a subcontract agreement for Plot-B construction works with a contract price of RM47.53mil.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing, the company said NSSB entered into an agreement with a contractor. Due to the confidential provision in the agreement, the identity of the contractor cannot be disclosed.

The project follows NSSB’s acceptance of the letter of award announced on March 3, 2026 in relation to the Plot-B construction works.

Northern Solar said the duration of the project is for a period of 15 months commencing from the date of execution of the agreement, and the tentative completion date of the project is on July 1, 2027.

“The agreement enables NSSB to strengthen its position and track record in the renewable energy and engineering, procurement and construction sector, particularly in large-scale solar photovoltaic projects,” it said.

“The execution of the agreement is in line with the group’s strategic objective to expand its renewable energy business segment and enhance its participation in infrastructure and sustainable energy-related projects in Malaysia,” it added.

Northern Solar said the agreement is expected to provide an additional source of revenue and earnings visibility to the group over the duration of the project.

In addition, the project is anticipated to further enhance NSSB’s technical capabilities, operational experience and credentials in undertaking utility-scale solar construction works, thereby improving its competitiveness for future renewable energy projects.

Northern Solar said the agreement is expected to contribute positively to the earnings per share and net assets per share of the company for the financial year ending March 31, 2027.
