Inari’s Philippine manufacturing plant hit by fire

PETALING JAYA: Inari Amertron Bhd says a fire broke out at part of its manufacturing facility in Clark, the Philippines, on May 10, affecting operations at its wholly-owned subsidiary, Amertron Inc in Philippines.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the semiconductor packaging and testing group said the incident occurred at about 2.30pm at plant CK1 and was contained by the Fire and Rescue Authority Department by 3.40pm.

The company said preliminary findings suggested the fire may have been caused by a wiring short circuit in the ceiling area. No fatalities or injuries were reported.

The fire damaged part of the production floor, including machinery, inventories and supporting facilities.

Inari is arranging alternative production plans to minimise disruption. It estimates losses will not exceed US$5mil.
