BNM, BI expand central bank cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Bank Indonesia (BI) have signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two central banks.

This includes monetary policy, financial stability and macroprudential policy, payment systems and digitalisation, financial sector development, capacity-building initiatives, and information sharing.

BNM governor Datuk Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said the MoU underscores shared commitment to deepen collaboration across established areas of central banking, while expanding cooperation into emerging areas of mutual interest.

According to a joint statement, the central banks noted the MoU sets the stage for a more robust and synergistic partnership between BNM and BI, and both central banks look forward to continued cooperation in the mutually agreed areas for the greater prosperity of both economies. — Bernama
