Shangri-La gets a new MD

PETALING JAYA: Shangri-La Hotels (Malaysia) Bhd’s managing director Christopher Phong Siew San has resigned ahead of the date announced earlier due to personal reasons.

He will be succeeded by 51-year-old Lin Diaan Yi effective today.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Shangri-La said the resignation of Phong, a 56-year-old Singaporean, took effect on April 13. He was supposed to step down on May 31.

Shangri-La also said Lin brings to the company her experience of corporate leadership, combined with a robust background and expertise in portfolio strategy, financial, performance and operational management, governance, sustainability and transformation.

Her extensive experience across different disciplines would enrich the board’s diversity of skills and enhance its decision-making processes. She also has the experience of serving consultancy McKinsey for 22 years. Lin holds a Master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
