Shangri-La Hotels appoints Lin Diaan Yi as new MD


KUALA LUMPUR: Shangri-La Hotels (Malaysia) Bhd has appointed Lin Diaan Yi as its new managing director and board memeber from April 14, 2026.

She succeeds Christopher Phong Siew San, whose last day with the company has been brought forward to April 13, 2026, from the previously announced date of May 31, 2026.

"Lin Diaan Yi brings to the Company her experience of corporate leadership, combined with a robust background and expertise in portfolio strategy, financial, performance and operational management, governance, sustainability and transformation.  

"Her extensive experience across different disciplines would enrich the Board's diversity of skills and enhance its decision-making processes," said the company in a stock exchange filing.

Prior to joining Shangri-La Hotels, Lin provided consultancy and insights into portfolio strategy, asset repositioning, capital allocation, financial, performance and operational management, governance, sustainability and transformation to leading hospitality, real estate and retail owners and operators across Asia including the Shangri-La Group.

She had been employed for 22 years at McKinsey & Company from 2002 to 2024, the last four years as senior partner and leader for the social, public and healthcare sectors across Asia.

Between 2015 and 2020, she was the managing partner for Singapore where she grew McKinsey's client base in the largest sectors of the economy which generated a substantial growth in revenues.

She currently serves on the board of Viva Foundation, The Esplanade, The Straits Trading Company Limited and the Communicable Diseases Agency.
