SC appoints Manoj Kurup as executive director for enforcement

PETALING JAYA: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has appointed Datuk Manoj Kurup as executive director, enforcement, with immediate effect.

In a statement, the SC said Manoj succeeds Budiman Lutfi Mohamed who was appointed as a judicial commissioner of the High Court of Malaya on April 1, 2026.

“Manoj began his legal career in 1990 and brings over three decades of experience across the judiciary and public prosecution.

“He most recently served as head of Prosecution Division at the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) before retiring in 2024. Prior to that, he held several roles at AGC, including as head of the Appeals Division.

The SC said he was also a member of the Malaysian prosecution team on the joint investigation of the Malaysia Airlines MH17 tragedy and a board member of the Malaysian Highway Authority.

“He holds a Master of Laws in Prosecutions from the University of Wollongong, Australia, and a Bachelor of Laws from the Polytechnic of Wales (now University of Glamorgan).

Manoj is also a Barrister-at-Law of Gray’s Inn, London, and holds a Diploma in Mediation from the Asian International Arbitration Centre.

Welcoming the appointment, SC chairman Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi said Manoj brings with him “deep legal expertise and leadership to the SC.”

“His extensive experience will further strengthen our enforcement efforts as we continue to uphold market integrity and protect investors.

“We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Budiman for his dedicated services and contributions to the SC since July 2022,” he said.
