Two NexG directors resign weeks after appointment


KUALA LUMPUR: Two new members of NexG Bhd's board of directors have resigned only three weeks after joining the company.

In April 2 filings with Bursa Malaysia, the company announced that two independent and non-executive directors  - Mohamed Najib Ishak, who is the son of executive chairman Datuk Ishak Ismail, and  Datuk Seri Muthanna Abdullah - had left their roles, ostensibly to pursue other interests.

NexG is a technology solutions providers, and the supplier of Malaysia's passports and MyKad products.

On March 4, Raya Aviation Holdings emerged as the largest shareholder in NexG with a 20.4% stake, following its acquisition of Skyelimit Alliance Sdn Bhd and Trendtrove Tradin Sdn Bhd.

NexG deputy executive chairman-cum-group CEO Datuk Abu Hanifah Noordin was suspended the next day, pending a review of certain investments.

He returned to his duties on March 11, following which there was reshuffling of directors, wihch resulted in the appointment of eight new directors including Ishak Ismail, Najib Ishak and Muthanna.
