Sime Property awards additional RM658.01mil hyperscale data centre works to IJM

KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Property Bhd said its subsidiary Sime Darby Property (EBP Asset II) Sdn Bhd has issued a contract valued at RM658.01mil to IJM Construction Sdn Bhd as an extension of works previously awarded for a hyperscale data centre at Elmina Business Park in Selangor.

The property group had previously awarded to IJM Construction, a subsidiary of IJM Corp Bhd, the contract for the main building works of the project, dubbed Package 1.

The current award, as additional works, represents Package 2 of the project.

"The contract involves construction, completion, testing and commissioning of a Hyperscale Data Centre, including associated ancillary facilities which is within an area of approximately 77 acres," said Sime Darby Property in a stock exchange filing.

According to the group, it was awarded by way of a tender process, in which nine contractors were invited to participate in the prequalification process.

Four contractors that were shortlisted to participate in the tender submitted bids ranging from RM658.01mil to RM839.89mil.

"IJM Construction was selected based on the overall evaluation in terms of commercial, capacity and technical expertise, as well as the assessment of Package 1 performance," said the group.

Construction of Package 2 shall commence in the second quarter of 2026, and the overall works shall be completed by the third quarter of 2027.

As the project is awarded by Sime Darby Property (EBP Asset II) to IJM Construction by way of a public tender, the award of the works is not regarded as a related party transaction. This is despite the interests of AmanahRaya Trustees Bhd – Amanah Saham Bumiputera, Permodalan Nasional Bhd and the Employees Provident Fund in both Sime Darby Property and IJM.
