KUALA LUMPUR: Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, a subsidiary of MMC Port Holdings Bhd and part of the MMC Group, has acquired a total of 71 units of new prime movers from Terberg Tractors Malaysia Sdn Bhd to optimise terminal productivity.

In a statement today, the multi-purpose gateway port operator noted that it recently took delivery of 37 units, marking the third batch of the purchase.

It said the purchase was also intended to further strengthen service reliability across its operations as part of its ongoing terminal modernisation and digitalisation initiatives.

"A total of 71 units of prime movers were delivered to Northport in several batches from January to March 2026.

"In addition, Northport is also expected to receive a further 20 units of new prime movers by April 2026 as part of its broader fleet expansion programme,” it said, adding that with these acquisitions, the total number of Northport’s prime mover fleet will increase to 190 units.

MMC Port group chief executive officer Datuk Azman Shah Mohd Yusof said this latest terminal enhancement reinforces Northport’s commitment to operating responsibly, efficiently and safely within the MMC Ports network.

"The addition of these modern and energy-efficient prime movers supports our MMC Ports agenda to implement sustainable technologies, elevate digital integration, and strengthen safety performance at the port.

"By continuously investing in reliable assets and smart operational capabilities, Northport is able to deliver an even higher standard of service to its customers while advancing its long-term mission of building a resilient, innovative and future-ready port ecosystem,” he added. - Bernama
