Malakoff executes four-year extension for Prai Power Plant operations

PETALING JAYA: Malakoff Corp Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Prai Power Sdn Bhd, has executed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) for a four-year extension of the Prai Power Plant’s operations, commencing on April 1, 2026 and expiring on March 31, 2030.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Malakoff said the extension builds on Prai Power Plant’s established operating track record, following the expiry of its original 21-year PPA on June 19, 2024 and its subsequent one-year short-term PPA extension with TNB until Aug 31, 2025.

Malakoff added that the PPA extension reflected the continued confidence in the Prai Power Plant’s operational stability and performance.

“The PPA regulates and governs, inter alia, the rights and obligations of both parties for the generation and sale of electricity and the requirement to make generating capacity available from Prai Power Plant to TNB.

“The PPA is expected to contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of the company going forward.”
