MSM Malaysia appoints new group CEO

PETALING JAYA: MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd has appointed Mazatul ’Aini Shahar Abdul Malek Shahar as its group chief executive officer (CEO), effective Feb 4, 2026, bringing with her three decades of leadership experience in corporate transformation, turnaround management and strategic fundraising.

She is replacing acting group CEO Hasni Ahmad.

’Aini previously served as chief financial officer (CFO) of Cagamas Bhd and MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd, and was group CFO of Proton Holdings Bhd, where she played a key role in the merger and acquisition process that led to Proton’s strategic partnership with China’s Zhejiang Geely Group.

She has also held senior positions at Aseambankers Malaysia Bhd and Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd, and began her career with Arthur Andersen & Co after graduating from the University of Nottingham.

’Aini holds a doctorate in Islamic banking and international economics from the University of East London and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
