KUALA LUMPUR: Integrated oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) provider Elsa Bhd has secured a contract from a major exploration and production (E&P) company to provide autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) subsea structure inspection services for offshore assets in East and West Malaysia.
In a statement, the group said its wholly owned subsidiary, Elsa Energy Sdn Bhd, had accepted the letters of award for the contract, which carries a firm order value for AUV inspection works commencing in the third quarter of 2026, with additional work orders that may be issued throughout the contract tenure.
The firm contract runs from June 19, 2026, to June 18, 2027, with an option to extend for a further year.
Under the contract, Elsa Energy will deploy AUV systems to conduct autonomous underwater inspections of offshore platform structures, including the provision of AUV systems, underwater inspection services, data collection and analysis.
Managing director Daniel Ilham Khong said the award marked a significant milestone for Elsa's robotics and autonomous inspection business.
"We believe this is a first-of-its-kind AUV deployment for subsea structure inspection involving vertical offshore platform structures in Malaysia. Unlike pipeline inspection, this application requires a distinctly different category of autonomous technology to navigate complex vertical architecture," he said.
Khong said the contract reflects the growing adoption of autonomous underwater inspection technologies in Malaysia's offshore oil and gas industry and validates the group's strategy of strengthening its robotics and engineering solutions segment as a core growth pillar.
He added that the contract aligns with Elsa's post-listing strategy of expanding its robotics-enabled inspection, drone-based applications and advanced asset integrity solutions.
