Emico announces fire at its Penang plant


PETALING JAYA: Emico Holdings Bhd has announced that a fire has occurred at one of its two manufacturing plants in Bayan Lepas, Penang.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the trophy and award products manufacturer said the incident affected certain parts of the production floor.

“Operations at Emico Penang Plant 2 have been temporarily halted pending the completion of investigations by the relevant authorities and the restoration of the power supply.

“The management is taking the necessary measures to mitigate production disruption, including rearranging production to other plants, expediting the appointment of contractors to restore the production facility, and rescheduling shipments where necessary.”

Emico said its other manufacturing plant and production facilities of the Group are not affected and continue to operate as normal.

“The company has yet to ascertain the financial impact arising from the incident. Nevertheless, the company wishes to inform that the building, inventories and machineries are adequately covered by insurance.

“The company will make the necessary announcement on any material developments in relation to the above incident in due course,” it said.
