AmBank Group provides RM103.8mil financing for Kedah solar project

KUALA LUMPUR: AmBank Group, through AmBank Islamic Bhd, has extended RM103.8mil in financing to Founder Energy Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Founder Group Limited (FGL).

The financing will support FESB’s role as the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contractor for a 29.99MWac ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in Bukit Selambau, Kedah, as well as other commercial and industrial (C&I) projects.

The project, with a contract sum of RM132.07mil, was awarded to FESB by one of the project developers backed by both local and multinational corporate shareholders.

Scheduled for completion in March 2027, the strategic collaboration reinforces AmBank Group’s commitment to championing sustainable financing and supporting Malaysia’s transition towards a greener, low-carbon economy.

AmBank Group managing director of business banking Christopher Yap said the financing reflects the group’s continued commitment to advancing sustainable finance and supporting renewable energy projects.

“By partnering with Founder Energy under the Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP), framework, we are proud to play a role in accelerating Malaysia’s transition towards a low-carbon economy while enabling businesses to adopt cleaner energy solutions.”

Meanwhile, FGL chief executive officer Eric Lee said this support is instrumental as a testament to Founder Energy’s growing bankability and technical excellence within the solar industry.

“Securing such significant financial backing not only reinforces our capability to deliver large-scale utility projects but also our commitment to a greener Malaysia.”
