RM570mil DC job win a boon for Sunway Construction

PETALING JAYA: Sunway Construction Group Bhd’s (SunCon) data centre (DC) construction contract win, valued at RM570mil, has lifted its financial year 2025 (FY25) year-to-date new job wins to RM4.6bil.

This is higher than FY24’s new job win of RM4.2bil, but came in at the lower end of the management’s targeted FY25 new job win assumption of RM4.5 to RM6bil, analysts noted.

The contract, secured through its wholly-owned subsidiary Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd, involves the core and shell construction of a DC in Johor for a US-based multinational technology company.

The win comes after a nearly seven-month lull in new contract awards, analysts noted.

Analysts are positive, citing its expected earnings contribution in FY26 and the potential for additional work.

“There is potential upsizing of works through the mechanical and engineering fit-out works package, which we estimate to be in the tune of RM500mil.

“The client has the option and the right (but not the obligation) to award the package to SunCon. We expect the package to be awarded by the first quarter of 2026 (1Q26),” the research house said.

Meanwhile, the core and shell works will begin this month, with a targeted completion by 4Q26.
