SunCon wins RM570mil data centre job

PETALING JAYA: Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SCSB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sunway Construction Group Bhd (SunCon), has accepted a letter of award from a US-headquartered multinational technology corporation for the core and shell works of a data centre development in Johor.

The contract is valued at approximately RM570mil, inclusive of sales and service tax, and serves as a notice to commence construction, with completion targeted by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Under the terms of the award, the client also retains the option to appoint SCSB for the mechanical and engineering fit-out works, subject to final contract negotiations.

SunCon said the project is subject to normal construction risks, including material price fluctuations, but noted that its experience in data centre developments positions it well to manage these challenges. Its outstanding order book stands at RM6.1bil.
