PETALING JAYA: Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd
, via its wholly owned subsidiary, Cahya Mata Cement Sdn Bhd, has broken ground for the new RM673mil Mambong Clinker Line 2 in Sarawak.
In a statement, the company said the new line will have a production capacity of up to 6,000 tonnes per day, increasing Cahya Mata Cement’s annual clinker output from 900,000 tonnes to 1.9 million tonnes.
“The expansion will boost Sarawak’s cement supply resilience and reduce import reliance, while advancing Cahya Mata’s strategy to modernise its production capacity.”
Construction is expected to take two years, with commissioning targeted for the second quarter of 2027.
“The project is undertaken by Sinoma Industry Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tianjin Cement Industry Design & Research Institute, China, which has been appointed as the project’s engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contractor,” the company said.
