MMC Port, Nize Technology to develop transformation, smart port blueprint

KUALA LUMPUR: MMC Port Holdings Bhd and Shanghai-based NIZE Technology Co Ltd have collaborated to develop a comprehensive digital transformation and smart port initiative blueprint.

NIZE Technology is a technology company established under Shanghai International Port (Group) Co Ltd.

In a statement today, MMC Port said the collaboration is designed to translate its digital aspirations into a concrete, executable roadmap.

"By adopting the architectural framework that currently powers Shanghai International Port’s operations, which handled 51.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2024, MMC Ports aims to adopt market-proven solutions,” it said.

Under the terms of the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the parties will conduct feasibility studies on three core initiatives.

The first is the MMC Ports Digital Blueprint Roadmap, which aims to develop a detailed five-year, business-led digitalisation strategy.

This will include a status quo assessment of infrastructure, systems, terminal layout, automation, and data lifecycle management and analytics across all MMC Ports operating companies.

The second core initiative is the MMC Ports Group Dashboard, which entails the creation of a unified group-level dashboard to monitor strategic key performance indicators across operations, equipment, finance, commercial and sustainability.

This will provide drill-down capabilities from the group level to individual terminals, MMC Ports said.

The third initiative is a Digital Twin proof of concept, involving the implementation of a pilot Digital Twin project at a designated port to test the feasibility of virtual replication for enhanced operational planning and efficiency.

"The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation for a period of five years,” it added. - Bernama
