KUALA LUMPUR: Asean member states have agreed to adopt the Asean Joint Vision on a Trusted and Inclusive E-Commerce Ecosystem 2030, marking a major step toward strengthening transparency, accountability and inclusivity in the region’s digital economy.
In a statement, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) said the agreement was finalised during the ASEAN E-Commerce Conference 2025, officiated by Deputy Minister Senator Datuk Dr. Fuziah Salleh and attended by regional policymakers, regulators, industry leaders and digital experts.
Co-organised by the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), the conference also reflects Malaysia’s leadership in driving the regional digital agenda as the country assumes the Asean Chairmanship in 2025.
The agreement outlines a common path for Asean and industry players to enhance consumer trust, improve platform accountability and encourage more responsible digital business practices.
A key focus of the initiative is to expand inclusive access for micro enterprises, women entrepreneurs and rural communities that still face digital gaps, while improving cross-border alignment to enable smoother and more efficient e-commerce transactions across the region.
“KPDN believes that the Asean Joint Vision on a Trusted and Inclusive E-Commerce Ecosystem 2030 will serve as a catalyst for shaping a stronger, more trusted and more resilient regional e-commerce ecosystem.
“Malaysia remains committed to continuing policy alignment efforts, strengthening regulatory frameworks and driving an inclusive digital economy for the benefit of consumers, entrepreneurs and the people of Asean,” it said.
