UEM Sunrise appoints new chief executive


PETALING JAYA: Property developer UEM Sunrise Bhd, best known for developing the upmarket Mont’Kiara, has appointed Shaharul Farez Hassan as the company’s chief executive officer and managing director with effect from Nov 17.

The company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia that Shaharul brings with him 30 years of experience in corporate leadership, financial management, strategic planning and corporate operations management across real estate, hospitality, automotive and infrastructure industries.

He holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an undergraduate degree in economics and accounting from the University of Bristol.

With his appointment, Hafizuddin Sulaiman, the company’s chief financial officer (CFO), would resume his position as CFO from Nov 17.

Hafizuddin was appointed to the interim position of officer-in-charge of the firm following the resignation of Sufian Abdullah, who departed UEM Sunrise at the end of February.
