TNG Digital appoints Syed Zaid Albar as chairman

PETALING JAYA: TNG Digital Sdn Bhd, the operator of TNG eWallet, has announced the appointment of Datuk Syed Zaid Albar as its chairman and non-independent non-executive director, effective Oct 17, 2025.

In a statement, TNG Digital noted that Syed Zaid is a senior lawyer with experience across a broad range of practice areas, with a strong focus on financial services and corporate advisory.

Syed Zaid stepped away from legal practice in 2018 to assume the role of executive chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), a position he held until mid-2022.

“During his tenure at SC, Datuk Syed Zaid played a key role in strengthening the governance, regulatory oversight and the development of Malaysia’s capital markets, both domestically and internationally.”

Syed Zaid currently serves as chairman of CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, CIMB Bank Bhd and Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd, and has previously served the boards of numerous public listed companies, including Yinson Holdings Bhd, Cycle & Carriage Bintang Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd and Malaysia Building Society Bhd.
