AS the government phases out import and excise tax exemptions for fully built-up (CBU) electric vehicles (EVs) and electricity tariffs increase under the latest regulatory cycle, the financial appeal of owning an EV is diminishing – just as petrol becomes even more affordable under the Budi95 subsidy scheme.
Under Regulatory Period 3 (RP3) from 2022 to 2024, the base electricity tariff stood at 39.95 sen/kWh.
