Genting Malaysia submits final bid materials for New York casino licence

KUALA LUMPUR: Genting Malaysia Bhd’s indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Genting New York LLC (GENNY), has submitted supplemental application materials to the New York Gaming Facility Location Board (NYGFB) for the final evaluation of its bid for a Downstate New York commercial casino licence.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the hospitality and gaming group said the materials were submitted on Oct 14, 2025 in response to the NYGFB’s requirements under the Request for Application (RFA) process.

“As previously stated, the NYGFB is expected to announce the winning bidders by Dec 1, 2025, followed by the issuance of licenses by Dec 31, 2025.

“Genting Malaysia will make appropriate announcements once there are further material developments in relation to its bid,” it said.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that MGM Resorts International withdrew from the New York casino race, citing weaker returns and a shorter 15-year licence term.

The move leaves three contenders — Genting Group’s Resorts World, Hard Rock International with Mets owner Steve Cohen, and Bally’s Corp.

Genting proposed a US$5.5bil resort next to the Aqueduct racetrack in Queens, offering US$600mil for the licence and taxes of 56% on slots and 30% on table games.
