HDC signs agreement with Global Psytech to strengthen halal SMEs

KUALA LUMPUR: Halal Development Corporation Bhd (HDC), under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), has inked an engagement agreement with Global Psytech Sdn Bhd (GPSB) to enhance the competitiveness and resilience of halal small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Established in 2017, GPSB is a data technology company specialising in behavioural and data analytics solutions across various industries.

In a statement, HDC said the collaboration will see GPSB introducing three digital platforms, namely the Talent Analytic Platform, Entrepreneur Analytic Platform, and Ethics & Governance Platform.

"These solutions are designed to help halal businesses sharpen leadership capabilities, improve financial literacy and strategic thinking, and reinforce ethics and governance as key drivers of long-term resilience,” it said.

HDC said it will promote the initiative through its Halal Integrated Platform (HIP) -- which brings together over 13,000 industry players -- to help members strengthen performance, build capable teams, and tap growth opportunities both domestically and internationally.

HDC chief executive officer (CEO) Hairol Ariffein Sahari said the collaboration with GPSB reflects the agency’s commitment to supporting halal SMEs beyond certification and market access.

"By focusing on organisational strength and talent development, we are preparing businesses to thrive in an increasingly competitive halal economy,” he said.

GPSB CEO Dr Haniza Yon said the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven behavioural insights aims to help halal SMEs improve decision-making, mitigate risks, and grow with integrity

"Together with HDC, we are nurturing resilient businesses capable of achieving sustainable success on the global stage,” she said.

HDC also said the collaboration supports the Halal Industry Master Plan 2030, which aims to position Malaysia as a leading global halal hub, contributing significantly to the country’s gross domestic product by 2030.

"It is also hoped the initiative will drive a data-driven, talent-focused, and ethical halal economy, making halal the preferred choice in global business ventures,” it added. - Bernama
