Ringgit rises against greenback on weak US jobs data

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened stronger against the US dollar on Monday, lifted by growing expectations of United States (US) interest rate cuts after weaker nonfarm payrolls (NFP) data.

At 8 am, the local currency stood at 4.2030/2285 per dollar, up from Thursday’s close of 4.2260/2320. Markets were closed on Friday for the Maulidur Rasul holiday.
