Samaiden, Cypark Resources win solar plant bids

Samaiden Group Bhd group managing director Datuk Chow Pui Hee.

PETALING JAYA: Samaiden Group Bhd has received a letter of notification from the Energy Commission (EC) for the development of a 99.99MW large-scale solar (LSS) photovoltaic plant in Segamat Johor.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, the clean energy services provider said the project was awarded to a consortium consisting of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Samaiden Sdn Bhd, and JBB Builders (M) Sdn Bhd.

The letter also formally acknowledged the consortium as a shortlisted bidder for the project under the LSS Petra 5+ (LSS5+) programme. The consortium was selected under Package 3 based on its competitive bid and fulfilment of the request-for-proposal criteria.

The project will operate under a 21-year solar purchase agreement between Samaiden and Tenaga Nasional Bhd, ensuring a stable and long-term revenue stream.

The plant is estimated to achieve its commercial operation by Oct 31, 2027.

Samaiden group managing director Datuk Chow Pui Hee said being selected for this LSS project is a significant milestone that reflects the market’s confidence in Samaiden’s capabilities and its continued commitment to supporting Malaysia’s renewable energy (RE) ambitions.

“We are proud to play an active role in accelerating the nation’s energy transition and delivering sustainable value for the long term,” Chow said.

She added that with the win, Samaiden’s position as a leading force in the RE sector is reinforced, marking a strategic milestone for the group.

Meanwhile, Cypark Resources Bhd also announced that a consortium consisting of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Cypark Renewable Energy Sdn Bhd, and Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sunview Group Bhd, had received a letter of notification from the EC.

The consortium has been shortlisted as a bidder to develop a new 99.99MW LSS photovoltaic plant in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan, under the LSS5+ competitive bidding exercise.

The project will be financed through a combination of internally generated funds and bank borrowings.

Cypark Resources said the project will likely yield sustained positive contributions to its future earnings over the project’s lifespan.
