Maybank emerges as substantial shareholder of Alam Maritim


KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) is now deemed a substantial shareholder of offshore oil and gas services provider Alam Maritim Resources Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Maybank said a total of 85.38 million new ordinary shares in Alam Maritim, representing a 19.16 per cent stake, had been issued to the bank and its wholly owned subsidiary Maybank Islamic Bhd pursuant to a scheme of arrangement under Section 366 of the Companies Act 1966 at an issue price of 27.83 sen each. 

In addition, 21.34 million free detachable warrants in Alam Maritim were also issued on the basis of one settlement warrant for every four settlement shares as part of settlement terms of the liabilities owing by Alam Maritim and its wholly owned subsidiary Alam Maritim (M) Sdn Bhd. 

As at Aug 29, Maybank's direct and indirect shareholdings via Maybank Islamic stood at 5.57 million shares and 79.81 million shares, respectively. - Bernama
