Gentari wins power deal in India

KUALA LUMPUR: Gentari Sdn Bhd via Gentari Renewables Sdn Bhd has inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to supply renewable energy from a 80MW wind energy project in Tamil Nadu, India.

In a statement yesterday, the clean-energy solutions provider said the agreement marks a concrete step towards the shared ambition of delivering new, cost-effective, utility-scale renewable energy projects.

“Targeted to commence operations in mid-2027, the project is expected to generate about 300,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy annually.

“Through the supply of renewable energy, Gentari is advancing its vision of putting clean energy into action, while supporting AWS’s goal of reaching net-zero carbon by 2040,” the company said.

Gentari added that the partnership reflects its commitment to advancing practical, scalable, and clean energy solutions vital for Asia. — Bernama
