AMMB appoints Phuah Shok Cheng as CFO


PETALING JAYA: AMMB Holdings Bhd (AmBank) has appointed Phuah Shok Cheng as its new chief financial officer (CFO) effective Aug 1.

The 48-year-old Phuah was most recently regional CFO and head of capital strategy at RHB Bank Bhd, and was also RHB’s acting CFO from January to July 2024. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from New Zealand’s University of Christchurch, and is a certified public accountant, chartered accountant, and chartered banker.

According to AmBank’s filing with Bursa Malaysia, Phuah previously worked at Ernst & Young Malaysia, including a role as senior manager, and also served as a senior consultant for internal auditing in London with Deloitte & Touche.

From 2009 to 2014, she held various positions, including head of financial reporting at group finance with Malayan Banking Bhd.
