Court dismisses lawsuit against Genting’s US unit

PETALING JAYA: Genting Malaysia Bhd (GenM) said a US court has granted Genting Americas Inc’s (GAI) motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by RAV Bahamas Ltd, calling it a “shareholders’ dispute”.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, GenM said that on July 1, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida granted GAI’s motion to dismiss the complaint filed by RAV Bahamas.

“The US Court’s decision reinforces GAI’s position that the complaint is merely a shareholders’ dispute, and that RAV’s current allegations are baseless and without merit,” GenM said.

However, the court gave RAV one last opportunity to amend its complaint before making a final decision on dismissal. GenM said it will announce any material developments.
